The dry crisp refreshing Rosé Wines are wonderful wines for the spring and summer.  Bis will showcase these rosé wines and the flavors of Provence for the month of June with our favorite rosés by the glass and a special bar menu featuring small plates of Provençal inspired dishes such as Cod Brandade, Tuna Tartines and Vegetable Anchoïde. 

Monday, March 30, 2009 is Taste of the Nation with our own R.J. Cooper III as the Chef Chairman.  Share Our Strength works hard to end child hunger and this event is amazing.  Information is available on the SOS  Taste of the Nation  website.

We were so proud of our Vidalia manager Khoa Nguyen who appeared as a contestant on NBC's The Chopping Block.  Khoa and his cousin decided to withdrew from the competition at the end of the show during the first week.    Khoa said that he believed this would be the best thing to do in light of the fact that he was used to people working together to make a restaurant work successfully and we agree.   Everyone who saw the show made of point of calling and telling us how professional he presented himself!  He is the winner in our book!

Chef Jeff appeared on Fox Midday News for D.C. Central Kitchen and the Cuisine Solutions product created for the charity's benefit.  Jeffrey Buben's Shrimp & Grits can be found in the local grocery stores and can also be bought online.  Read all about it at D.C. Restaurant Week was a great success and thanks so much for your patronage and great emails especially in this economy. Spring menus are just around the corner . We are looking forward to the crisp and delicious spring Vidalia onions, morels, asparagus and our favorite local shad and shad roe as it becomes available, so come visit again soon.

Absinthe Minded - The bar at Bis is featuring an Absinthe menu. The infamous anise-flavored spirit derived from herbs is served in the classic style with a sugar cube and distilled water from an absinthe dripper.
